Chapter :-6 The Job

Raghav needed money. That was the only reason he accepted the caretaker job at shanti residency,a nearly abandoned guesthouse on the outskirts of the city.

The pay was too good for such a quiet place.

Which meant something was wrong.

But he ignored it.

People always exaggerated.

Ghost stories were just fear dressed up as entertainment.

On his first day,Mahesh-- the previous caretaker--gave only one rule :

"After midnight...don't go to the third floor."

No explanation.

No details.

Just that.

Raghav nodded, already deciding he wouldn't follow it.

At 12:07 AM, it began.

Footsteps above him.

Slow.

Dragging.

Like something heavy being pulled.

But no guests were staying on the third floor.

The only unlocked room upstairs.

A half-open door.

A message on the wall:

"Don't let her see you."

Second later,it changed to:

"TOO LATE."

And something appeared.

Raghav saw her clearly the second night.

A tall,skeletal woman.

Skin stretched.

Eyes black.

Her neck bent unnaturally, like it had been broken and never fixed.

She didn't walk.

She dragged herself.

And she always smiled.

Every night at 12:07 AM,she moved.

From Room 27.....

Into the hallway.....

Searching.

Always searching.

Mahesh finally revealed something important:

"She only harms those who acknowledge her."
